INFORMATION ON OUR CLASSES

See below for some information on the class types that are being considered.  Final class types will be decided depending on demand.

NRG MINI MOVERS

We have 2 mini mover classes-

A class for children aged 3 to school age

A class for children in Primary 1 up to approx 8 years

This class will be non-competitive.  If in the future pupils in this age range wish to compete they would also attend a competition class.

This class will teach basic dance technique, freestyle, acro & lyrical / slow dance.  Other types of dance will also be taught on an ad-hoc basis.

This class will consist of a warm-up, technique, class routine and a cool down.

Members of this class will have the opportunity to take part in medal test examinations and will progress through the different grades.  This is a great way for dancers (especially non-competitive) to show progression and improvement in dance.

COMPETITIVE DANCERS

It is important to note that attending competitions is optional, many children will wish to be non-competitive only.     A child may only become competitive after a discussion with Tracy.  Minimum requirements of basic dance moves must be met before a child is able to be considered for competing.

Once a child becomes competitive it will be approximately 3 months until they attend their first competition.  This is to ensure the child has improved their dancing to a good competitive standard and feels confident and prepared with their routines.

Each child is given their own fast and slow routines which are individual to them ensuring that the routines compliment their strengths.

Competitive dancers attend class for a longer period of time on a Wednedsay where they have the opportunity to work on their competitive routines.  They will also be expected to attend ad-hoc classes where more advanced dance technique will be taught.

Competitive pupils must attend private lessons.  These are either 121 or within a small group.

All competitive children will be given a NRG Dance Notebook for their routines and practice work to be noted in.

The type of competitions attended are "Disco Freestyle Competitions"

These competitions are for freestyle and slow dance only.  Competitors will dance through knock out rounds in their age group and grade.  The dancers who do not get knocked out and reach the final (approx 6 dancers) will be placed and awarded with trophies.  Pairs are sometimes danced at these events.   When numbers suffice the dance school will run a bus to events - when this is the case all accommodation is booked by the dance school.
